How it started

Café Origins

The Café began as a few friends who loved cooking up plays for primetime NFL & NBA games, but expanded into something none of us saw coming.

Back in 2023, we posted our plays publicly on socials for fun to add a little more excitement and see if anyone at all would be interested. Within months, the Café reached millions of people and the community across all of social media grew.

Now, thousands of plays, and hundreds of millions of views later, it’s grown far beyond a few friends posting picks. Sure, the Café’s official plays have gotten sharper, but the real accomplishment is bringing together this many people who love sports as much as we do.

How it grew

The Café Membership

After that first year of posting, we followed the advice of many of you, and launched the membership to give us an outlet to reach you all directly. Not only has it given us a way to offer more picks & get the plays from the videos out early, but it’s given us the Discord, where we’ve been able to really build the Café community.

The Café Discord created an open dialogue between everyone, which has set the tone for us all learning together, and using it as a resource for research. There’s also nothing like a last second clutch, when you’re experiencing it with thousands of us together in real time.

It’s also let us put together the Café’s monthly community ‘Last Ladder Standing’, a yearly March Madness bracket, and so much more. The daily videos haven’t gone anywhere — but the membership has allowed the Café to grow around them.

What sports do you cover?

NFL and NBA are the big two. We never miss a primetime NFL game, we’ll typically run four different plays on NFL Sunday, and we cover every NBA slate.

We’ll still sprinkle in MLB, UFC, NHL and soccer when we see slates we’re confident in. Baseball especially — that’s the one we’ve been working into the menu more the last couple of seasons.

What time do plays go out?

It changes day to day depending on the slate, but every play goes out the moment it’s placed. The video play reaches members hours before the video does — on average around 11am ET, though it can often land later if we’re waiting on injury reports — and just as often the night before, if we see something we love right away.

The daily extra play(s) typically follow a couple of hours after that.

What happens in the offseason?

The Café runs on the sports calendar. Once the NBA season wraps up in mid-June, we take a break from posting videos until the NFL returns at the start of September, and the membership pauses with it. You don’t need to do anything on your end — it picks back up on its own when we return.

The Discord of course stays open and active, with us still sweating lots of baseball and UFC over the summer months. We just aren’t sending out official plays, or posting videos, in July and August.
